Game 2 vs. Pershing

The 7th grade Cougars hosted the Pershing Generals in basketball action yesterday. The B team came out ready to play with great hustle from Shamar Redix and Chavis Nguyen. Jordan Bollenbach had his team on the track and led the cougars with three assists while Colton Smith poured in seven points. Carver entered the second half down by one and played tough defense while getting eleven steals and pulling in nineteen defensive rebounds. In the end it was not enough as the Cougars fell to the Generals 30-25.
The A game was a very physical game from the start with both teams playing in your face defense. The tempo was fast and furious and the first half ended with Carver leading 25-23. Carver outworked the Generals in the third quarter with Hayden Schmitz, Seth Holyfield and Michael Fowler getting some key rebounds. Niekie Thomas who had done a great job orchestrating the offense and playing tight defense got in foul trouble and rested for the remainder of the third. Nick Cole, Colton Smith, Nathan Townsen and Chaviz Nguyen all came in off the bench to contribute to the team. The fourth quarter proved to be too much defense from the Generals as the Cougars were only able to score three points and despite great team defense until the final minute when the Cougars had to foul to try to get the ball back Carver lost the game 47-38.
The Cougars will be taking on the Pipkin Pirates on December 1st at Carver.
